About eBERlight

X-ray-based tools from light sources are essential for research related to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Office of Science Biological and Environmental Research (BER) mission. The DOE’s Advanced Photon Source (APS) at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) is a leader in biological, geological, geochemical, and environmental sciences research. The APS facility is undergoing a major upgrade that will create new possibilities for the BER community to tackle current and future scientific challenges. To support and enhance the use of these resources crystallography, full-field imaging, x-ray microscopy, x-ray absorption spectroscopy, and scattering techniques. eBERlight provides support and coordination for all project-related activities, from idea to publication. eBERlight conducts outreach and training activities to raise awareness and accessibility among scientific community, including Minority Serving Institutions.

The eBERlight program also utilizes additional Argonne resources: the Advanced Protein Characterization Facility, Advanced Leadership Computing Facility, APS cryolab, and Center for Nanoscale Materials. eBERlight collaborates with other BER facilities, such as the Environmental and Molecular Sciences Laboratory and Joint Genome Institute, to facilitate access for cross facility projects.
